Assistant Professor of Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology at the Biggs Institute at UT Health San Antonio
In the field of memory disorders, there is a significant need for enhanced clinical resources, research studies and educational training. With this in mind, Alicia Parker, MD, has worked diligently to provide clinical, research and educational opportunities at the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Disorders at UT Health San Antonio.
Dr. Parker established the Memory Disorders Clinic and the multidisciplinary MIND Clinic as the Clinic Director of the Biggs Institute. She was also the first Cognitive and Behavioral Neurologist to practice in Bexar County.
She serves as the Co-Director of the Frontotemporal Dementia Clinic alongside Campbell Sullivan, PSYD, ABPP-CN, specializing in treating patients with behavioral and language disorders.
Dr. Parker has played a crucial role in bringing research opportunities to patients with dementia and their caregivers. She is involved in multiple clinical trials for Alzheimer’s and frontotemporal dementia, serving as the site Principal Investigator. Her research interests include the interaction between heart health and brain health.
Dr. Parker provides didactic instruction on research and cognitive topics as part of her educational training efforts. She has played a key role in developing clinical rotations for students, residents and fellowship programs. Additionally, she is a member of the Neurology Residency Program Evaluation Committee. Dr. Parker serves as the Co-Director of the Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Fellowship program accredited by the UCNS, alongside the Director, Arash Salardini, MD.
