Brain Aging and Dementia in LMICs 2024

The Brain Aging and Dementia in LMICs 2024 was held December 3-4, 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya. The conference focused on the growing burden of cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, including HIV-associated dementias, in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The meeting provided a platform to discuss incidence, modifiable risk factors, genetics, biomarkers, diagnosis, and dementia care, with cross-cultural comparisons between LMICs and high-income regions, including Europe, North America, and Japan.

The program featured 1.5-hour themed sessions with four senior speakers and two Early Career Researchers, followed by general discussion and an invitation-only workshop and business meeting hosted by the African Dementia Consortium and the International Brain Research Organization.

The conference is supported by major international and academic organizations, including the African Dementia Consortium, Newcastle University, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the Alzheimer’s Association (USA), IBRO, and the World Federation of Neurology.
